Juniors, Sophomores, and Freshmen:

The PSAT is the Preliminary SAT and serves as the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT) for Juniors. The PSAT is an excellent way to prepare yourself for the SAT so taking the PSAT every year familiarizes you with the format of the SAT and the types of questions on the SAT. Once the test is graded, you receive your results and your PSAT test booklet is returned to you so you can review each question to improve your knowledge and score for the next time you take the PSAT (Freshmen and Sophomores) or SAT (Juniors and Sophomores in Algebra 2).

The National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT) is a scholarship program for Juniors who score in the top 1% of all test takers worldwide. Qualified Juniors will move onto Semi-Finalist status from which Finalists are selected. There are many colleges that offer generous scholarships to Semi-Finalists and Finalists and there are additional generous scholarships awarded by various companies and organizations.

You are highly encouraged to take the PSAT every year!
